Senior Frontend Engineer
Messy spend management is tricky business. And tedious processes are a lose-lose situation for all involved, not just finance. At Pleo, we're changing that. We build spend solutions that make managing money seamless, empowering, and surprisingly effective for finance teams and employees alike—with a vision to help all businesses ‘go beyond’.
The word ‘Pleo’ actually means ‘more than you’d expect’, and living by that mantra has been the secret to our success over the last 10 years.
Now, we’re at a pivotal moment in our journey; every move we make has a direct impact on our 40,000+ customers, our business, and our collective success. We need people who take pride in uncovering customer needs, who turn complex problems into simple solutions, challenge the way things are done (respectfully), and always aim high. With great ambitions driving us forward, we can’t say we’ve got this whole thing figured out. And frankly, that’s half the fun! What we can say is that we’re a driven, progressive, and, importantly, a kind bunch of 850+ people from over 100 nationalities, all committed to delivering the future of business spending, together.
About the role
We're looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to join our Team Backoffice Platform at Pleo. In this role, you'll help us make the backoffice an accessible platform for engineers to contribute to, help us set up frontend guidelines, and address tech debt. If you're excited about innovating the most important internal tool and are passionate about frontend, then this is the opportunity for you!
Who you’ll be working with and reporting to
You’ll report to an Engineering Manager and work closely with teams in Quality Engineering and Demo Experience. Our team of 3 is highly collaborative and dedicated to backoffice. You’ll also have the chance to partner with teams across the company to ensure success.

- Collaborate with Backoffice Platform to create and improve features to support our users
- Analyze usage metrics and adoption in order to inform future product decisions
- Come opinionated but open to every meeting
- Mentor and guide more junior frontend developers within the organization
To put things into context, we currently have backoffice permissioning overhaul and external partner access on our roadmap. You can expect to work with the following tech stack and tools:
- Modern JavaScript, CSS and Web APIs
- Component-based, declarative UIs (we use React)
- CSS-in-JS (we use styled-components)
- Linting and testing frameworks (we use Jest + RTL and Vitest)
- Static types (we use TypeScript)
- Data fetching and mutations (we use tRPC, SWR)
What you bring
You’ll thrive in this role if you have:

- A passion for solving problems in creative and innovative ways.
- Excellent time management and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Experience with grafana or a similar observability tool.
- The willingness to learn and teach others
- A background in B2B SAAS or FinTech

This role is a good fit for you if:
- Like working in an autonomous and trusted team
- Collaborate well with non-engineering users and engineers alike regardless of their specific role or level
- Stay engaged
- Love to learn
This role is not a good fit for you if:

- Grow your skills in a platform team, taking on new challenges as the company continues to scale.
We’re committed to helping you develop your career, whether that means taking on bigger projects, stepping into leadership, or acquiring new skills in engineering.
