Central European PR Manager

PR. Two little letters that, when brought together in harmony, can unlock a whole new stratosphere for company growth and credibility.

In the last two years our in-house PR team have managed 10 market launches, engaged a pan-european comms agency and been able to deliver a fully rounded PR strategy that has in turn resulted in doubling coverage numbers quarter on quarter.

As a company we've got all the pieces in place…

  1. A great vision and brand purpose that drives us: to make everyone feel valued at work.
  2. A consistently best-in-class rated spending solution in Europe, helping companies unlock autonomy, trust and better work.
  3. Charismatic founders, C-levels, board members and team altogether, ready for comment, profile or the occasional byline.
  4. Some pretty big ambitions and growth targets.

One of the biggest growth efforts we’re shooting for this year is solidifying our brand across our European markets with a focus on Spain, France, The Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Germany and UK. It takes a team effort to make this all successful, and we’re looking for someone who can slot into an incredibly busy proactive press office and keep the plates spinning!

This person will play a hands-on role, taking the lead managing PR across our German and Dutch markets and assisting with the UK market, driving key comms and PR projects, supporting the management of key external agencies and the day-to-day press activity.

You’ll be in a team of two, working with our Global PR Lead, but you will have full ownership over the PR programmes for Central Europe, ensuring the programme is tied into the global approach, whilst maintaining a good level of localised activity

The person who steps into this role will need to be confident, forward thinking and be able to work autonomously, adapting quickly to new environments and juggle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Driving our local agencies to success – exceeding retainers and expectations
  • Finding opportunities for field research aligned to the state of business spending within regions
  • Supporting our regional Country and Marketing manager teams, to best represent them to the media across markets
  • Reviewing and editing bylines/thought leadership pieces/press releases
  • Collaborating on a data-led bi-annual report that spans our 7 core markets
  • Creating daily, weekly and bi-monthly wraps across all markets to share with internal stakeholders-a good knowledge of Meltwater would be helpful here!
  • Supporting the wider Brand & Comms and Content teams with newsjacking opportunities, blended PR efforts and global campaigns that tie into the core brand strategy
  • Coordinating and leading media training for all those that you determine need it

  • Have experience selling-in stories for B2B/fintech either in-house, agency side or both
  • You have experience managing the comms strategy for two or more EMEA markets and can demonstrate success metrics.
  • Are hands-on with a strong journalistic/editorial mindset to help dig out interesting media angles and creating written content such as thought leadership pieces and bylines
  • Have strong relationships with journalists
  • German-speaker would be ideal

  • Have a perfect mix of creative thinking and tactical prowess

Why join us?

Working at Pleo means you're working on something very exciting: the future of work. Our mission is to help every company go beyond the books. Pleo itself means ‘more than you’d expect’, and it’s been the secret to our success over the last 8 years. So it’s only fitting that we’d pass this philosophy onto our customers to help them make the most of their finances.

We think company spending should be delegated to all employees and teams, that it should be as automated as possible, and that it should drive a culture of responsible spending. Finance teams shouldn’t be siloed from the rest of the organisation – they should work in unity with marketing, sales, IT and everyone else.

Speaking of working in unity, our values tell the story of how we work at Pleo. We have four core values, the first of which is ‘champion the customer’, which means we address real pain points that businesses face. Next up is ‘succeed as a team’, which highlights how our strength lies in our diversity and trust in each other. We also ‘make it happen’ by taking bold decisions and following through to deliver results. Last but not least, we ‘build to scale’, creating lasting solutions that address today’s challenges and anticipate tomorrow’s needs.

So, in a nutshell, that's Pleo. Today we are a 850+ team, from over 100 nations, sitting in our Copenhagen HQ, London, Stockholm, Berlin, Madrid, Montreal and Lisbon offices —and quite a few full-time remotes in 35 other countries! Being HQ'd out of Copenhagen means we're inspired by things like a good work-life balance. If you don't work in the office with us, we'll help you set up the best remote setup possible and make sure you still have time to connect with your team.
